Developed by Christopher Hinn, the former Senior Middle East Advisor to Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, the Extremism Identification and Terrorism Prevention course fills a critical gap in current counterterrorism and homeland security training.

With 37 years of international security experience, including the current position of Commander with the District of Columbia's Protective Services Police and two years as the Deputy Assistant Administrator for International Affairs at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Hinn brings a wealth of first-hand knowledge to the EITP program -- knowledge that most homeland security professionals simply cannot obtain from reading or other training courses.

The EITP course is supported and taught by a growing cadre of security experts and progressionals with a wide variety of backgrounds, from law enforcement to aviation security and intelligence.

The central topic areas covered during the EITP course include:  Middle Eastern cultures; the wide variety of beliefs within the Islamic religion; cultural norms and effective methods of personal interactions with Muslims from different nations; how extremist views are cultivated and how they differ from mainstream Islam; the emerging threat of homegrown radicalization; the terrorist attack cycle and how it relates to the behaviorial assessment process; and basic terms and Arabic language skills that provide security professionals with an invaluable tool to interact with and assess Arabic-speaking persons.

"After attending this course, I would have to say that current training courses do not adequately address the topic of extremism and the Muslim culture. The course was highly effective."  -- A senior federal homeland security manager
